… Godly facts you may not know about SEX

One of the major weaknesses of mankind is sex. We have battled with it, not just lost the battle, but enslaved by it. We are unknowingly living at the mercy of our feelings. Our feelings have absolute control over our lives and we are gradually drowning in the ocean of lust.

Gone are those days when Virginity is a pride, adultery is a shame and fornication unacceptable. Today, all stated above is the order of the day. A virgin is ashamed of his/her status, men desire to marry a woman that is experienced in bed, and parents give the boy child condom for protection and sex is the best advertising strategy for products and services.

When the feeling lashes us, we cowardly succumb disregarding the upshot. Prevalent diseases are as a result of men exchanging natural relation with unnatural ones; homosexuality, Bestiality, sexual objectification etc. The physical consequences (HIV/AIDS, STDs etc.) are nothing to be compared with the spiritual outcome on the soul.

It is time we get freedom from these vices that easily entangles us through the knowledge of Godly facts we may not know about SEX.
  • All other sin a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his body (1 Corinthians 6:18).
  •  Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders (1 Corinthians 6:8)
  •  Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s Temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyonedestroys God’s Temple, God will destroy him; for God’s Temple is SACRED, and you are thatTEMPLE (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
  •   Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her? For it is written, “The two will become one flesh” (1 Corinthians 6:16).
  •   It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality, that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable (1 Thessalonians 4:3).
  •  We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did –and in one day twenty Three- Thousand of them died (1 Corinthians 10:8)
  •    ... The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body (1 Corinthians 6:13).
  •  When tempted, no one should, “say God is tempting me”. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed (James 1:13-14).
  •  Like a City whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control (Proverbs 25:28).
  •  “Everything is permissible for me”-but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me”- but I will not be mastered by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12).
Sexual Immorality kills and exposes us to lots of avoidable heartaches. It can even cause us a life time of peace and happiness. Thank God for His Grace that is readily available through His Wisdom (Jesus Christ). All we need is to resist the devil and he will flee from us (James 4:7).
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. Do we lack Wisdom (Christ)? Ask God, He gives generously without finding fault and we will receive (James 1:5).

8 Most Meaningful Proverbs Everyone Should Live By

Hello Optimistic People,

I saw this post online by Catalina and I just can't help but share it with us this weekend. It is something we will need through the weekend and life in its entirety.

Many of us have heard over and over again those proverbs everyone should live by that are really inspiring. From each culture and religion, there are plenty of essential proverbs that speak to the depths of you as a human being and affect how you think. Sometimes proverbs can be so inspiring that they even change who you are and how you live your life. If you want to feel refreshed and inspired, take a look at some great and incredibly meaningful proverbs everyone should live by!

1. “The purpose of life is a life of purpose” – Robert Byrne

Perhaps, this is my favorite proverb, because there was a time when I didn’t understand what the purpose of my life was. I think at some point every one of us comes to that difficult question of what the purpose of life is. The answer is actually different for everybody and some people may not know it yet and that’s not bad. The basic point of this great proverb is to live your life with purpose in all your thoughts and actions, which is actually everybody’s calling, regardless of passions and talents. I have this wonderful and meaningful proverb on my wall and it really helps me through difficult times!

2. “In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold” – Eph. 4:26-27

I always think of this proverb when I’m in a fight with a family member, partner or friend. While being angry is normal and even healthy, we should not be consumed by anger and it must not still be there the next day. If you are consumed by anger over a disagreement or fight, you can easily say or do something you will regret later. So calm yourself by taking a few deep breaths and try to resolve the issues without fighting. Remember you and only you are responsible for your actions so do your part to stay cool, calm and collected!

3. “A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing” – Oscar Wilde

Though I try not to be a cynic person, with all the selfishness abounding in our world it’s extremely difficult not to be cynical. I believe that there are many selfless and kind people who really make our world a better place to live in! It’s an amazing goal to see the value in those things that are not fleeting in life, such as love, faith, family, and friends!

4. “Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it ” – Confucius

Have you ever heard the saying ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’? I absolutely agree with Confucius. Beauty is everywhere we just don’t notice it at times. Every day try to see those little things, which are very beautiful. It can be lunch with your friends and interesting conversation. Sure, it’s the little thing, but it’s so beautiful!

5. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Often it’s extremely difficult to ignore negative words, especially when they are from someone you love. If it happens, the best thing to do is to tell the person that it’s a great pity that they have such opinion, and that you are going to think otherwise. Never dwell on negative words, I know it’s easier said than done, but you should try to do it!

6. “Kindness is the sunshine in which virtue grows” – Anonymous

I like this proverb because unkind people can’t have virtuous traits. Kindness comes from love, and without love, all virtuous characteristics are worthless. I believe this is a beautiful and meaningful proverb everyone should live by!

7. “Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark” – James 3:5

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. The entire verse compares the tongue to a big fire and how our words are powerful and destructive. Every time I read this proverb I always think of gossips and how they spread like a fire, consuming people who turn their ears to listen. Gossips can ruin lives, so we must avoid spreading rumors about other people, even if they’re true. It’s just unkind.

8. “The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step” – Chinese Proverb

I love this proverb because it’s really motivational in all areas of life. I think about my fitness goal and how the most difficult part about getting into exercise is just beginning and taking that first step! The first step is always the most difficult since it’s the mental battle you should overcome.

I seriously hope you will agree with me on the above stated proverbs and the power in the words.
Please do have a beautiful weekend. Be optimistic about life and you will experience optimum success in life.

I sincerely love you.

Thanks for viewing.

Did I Say That...???

Some years back, I went with my mum to see a family friend who came visiting from Lagos. The family friend lodged in her brother’s house. As we approached the house we heard noises from the compound. Obviously, there was a fight in the house. So we hurriedly entered and found out that it was the family friend’s brother and his wife that had misunderstanding. The wife was crying and my mum asked her to calm down and explain why she was upset and she said “I cannot remember the last time he said he loves me…"

So many marriages are breaking up today just because we don’t use that word ‘I love you’ often and many young bright destinies have been tampered with because of the erroneous use of the word ‘I love you’.

How and when should this word be used? This is a discussion for another day. But today, we will look at what we mean when we use that word, ‘I Love you’.
What we are simply saying is; I will…
… be Patient with the differences we share
… be Kind despite your invidious actions.
…not envy regardless of who is more successful
…not boast about achievements, background and all of that
…not be proud to say sorry
…not be rude by keeping that attitude to myself
…not be self seeking because 1+1=1
…not be easily angered no matter how annoying you can be
…not keep record of wrong… forgive and forget rule
…not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth
…protect you in the waging storm
…always trusts even if you don’t trust yourself
…always hope in a hopeless situation
…always persevere because surulere (Patience is virtue)
…never fail you

When you say the word ‘I love you’, you are saying all of the above.
Stay Blessed.
(Holy Bible, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8.)

I Should Have…

Nobody seems to accept him.

My friends all have something to say about him that puts them off. My family members believe I deserve someone better. But I love him… we love each other so much a day does not go by without us seeing each other. We are never tired of each other. Despite the fact that we see every day, we still miss each other. He is my Oxygen…

It is so fresh in my memory how we met. It was love at first sight. He is a dream come true. He is my prince charming who rescued me from the dragon of loneliness. He has great charisma with swagger. He is every girl fantasy. I do not need to pray about him because he a born again Christian, an executive in my fellowship and shares word like Christ himself. He is spiritual and sociable.

Hmm… why does it seem so wrong now? Why am I so depressed and sad? What happened to the love and friendship we shared? What happened to the Christ like man I married?

I should have listened to the stupid reasons my friend gave for me not to marry him. Excuses about how he eats a larger portion of the food and meat when we eat together without considering me, how he gives me his used phone and get a new one for himself, how he is possessive and always wanting to know who and who are the contacts on my phone and the places I have been, how I had to be the one always apologizing when we have misunderstanding.

It all looked and felt like love to me. I felt my friends were just jealous because I have a man like him while they don’t. Now … I have no one to run to, no shoulder to cry on and nobody to tell me it will be ok.

I should have listened to my mum when she prayed about us and told me to be patient for the right man to come. I told her I am not getting any younger!! I will be 30 next year. Most of my friends are married and those that are not have a stable relationship and will soon wed. Besides, we have been dating for 8 years. I cannot just waste all those years… what if I can’t find someone else. I am working and I hardly have time to meet people.  He wants to marry me. Why should I turn him down? I have promised him that I will not let him down except he asks for it.

Now, I wish he never proposed. I wish I listened. I wish I saw it the way they all did. I wish… I wish… I wish…

I should have waited.
(Story is a fiction coined from what is happening especially in marriages)

Waiting is inevitable.

We wait on a lot of things everyday from the filling station to cooking process.
It is quite shocking to know that we find it more difficult to wait on things that will affect our lives. We want it as soon as possible, we want it the way we want it, we ignore simple details and prefer fantasy to reality.

Why must we wait?
1.     We can afford to wait because no situation is permanent. The situation will change because change is constant. In II Kings 6:25-33, the king of Samaria was greatly upset because of the famine in the land and he asked Elisha the question “…why should I wait for the Lord any longer?” (II Kings 6:33). Elisha answered that by that time the following day, the situation would have changed.
2. God will surely act on our behalf. Isaiah 64:4(NIV) says, “Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.”

We only need to wait patiently for it. Romans 8:25 (NIV) says, “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

Patience is a virtue. Galatians 5: 22(NIV) “But the fruit of the spirit is…patience...”

Patience is a cloth designed by the Holy Spirit that we can decide to wear. It is contained in the wardrobe we got from God. Colossians 3:12 (NIV) “Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion …and patience.”

Patience assures us of the reality of our promise. Hebrew 6:12 (NIV) “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”

Let us wait now so we will not weep later.

Stay blessed.
